Domestic Violence is an issue in our community and now YOU have an opportunity to support our women and children in Ballarat.
The DV Collective’s mission is to support organisations who support women and children escaping and recovering from domestic violence. On a national level we tap into some of Australia’s largest organisations to provide funding, free products and services and volunteers to enable these domestic violence support services to help more women and children.
We are now launching the same concept but on a local level….
On a local level we empower community to co-ordinate a unified approach to support existing local domestic violence organisations, attract more support services into the region and engage EVERYONE in the community, ultimately helping more women and children in Ballarat.
Unless you’ve lived through it and needed assistance, chances are you won’t know much about domestic and family violence services in the Ballarat region.
With national statistics at 1 in 6 women in Australia reporting to have experienced family and domestic violence, and rates higher in regional centres than major cities, either you or someone you know will need and use these services.
The reality is the services are generally under-funded, under-resourced and not meeting demands.
The Project:
The DV Collective, in partnership with Ballarat Business Women, have launched Empowering our Community - Ballarat.
Our Goals :
1. Identify, promote and support existing Local Domestic Violence Support Services
2. Attract additional support resources into the Ballarat Region
3. Building the capacity for these organisations to support more women and children in our community.
To achieve these goals, The DV Collective and Ballarat Business Women will focus on:
Creating Awareness: Shining a spotlight on our local domestic violence services, the support they provide and how the community can access the support. The DV Collective is a national program and will introduce new support services, that exist in other towns across Australia into the local region.
Engaging with the Community: Collaborating with and empowering local businesses and individuals by creating avenues to be involved through volunteering opportunities, fundraising events and donation drives to name a few.
Would you like to become an Ambassador?
The initiative seeks individuals with skills in networking, marketing, promotions, event management, media, administration together with a genuine passion for improving the services and outcomes for women and children escaping domestic violence.
WE NEED YOU
We invite members of the Ballarat community, to register their interest, stay up to date on the latest campaigns and events we will be co-ordinating to support more women and children escape and recover from domestic violence.
This new initiative will have a rewarding impact in the Ballarat region for the DV services already established, for the additional resources not yet servicing Ballarat and for the women and children at the heart of our cause.
