EAST BRUNSWICK - Wednesday 24 April
Get together a team of 8 and come over to Brunswick where you’ll spend a few hours really making a difference to women in need.
The clients coming to this warehouse have literally nothing. The furniture and donations they receive from here will be the only items they have in their home.
Workplace Group - Sort and distribute donations of furniture and homewares to those most in need. This can range from a few items to a whole house full.
You will be inducted in the workplace and then introduced to the amazing work being done to support case workers to support women and children and others most in need of household items after securing a new home.
Where do the items go? - Case workers who support women and children escaping domestic violence, as well as case workers supporting others in need, book a time to take their client to the warehouse to choose items for their new home. Volunteers would have previously sorted and categorised items. Clients can choose just a few items, or an entire home full. Once the client is happy with their choices, volunteers will collate items and get them ready for pick up.
What to wear - Comfortable casual clothing with covered in shoes for safety.
Please note: the warehouse is two levels with no lift so volunteers should be able to walk up 2 flights of stairs and have a reasonable level of fitness.
We’re always looking for donations of small electrical goods & small scale furniture.
It would be great if you could rally your friends and family to provide the following items for you to bring on the day…
In dire need of toasters, kettles, sandwich presses, slow cookers, rice cookers, irons, bagless vaccuum cleaners and flat screen TVs with remotes please!!!
